Tribecans and thousands more rally against SCOTUS

Local women joined hundreds more at Foley Square yesterday to protest the draft Supreme Court decision that would dismantle Roe v. Wade.

NY State Attorney General Tish James and comedian Amy Schumer spoke at the rally, but the signs said all. Photos came from Brooke Travis, Rachel Hall Danes and E.

The only comfort I can find in any of this is we are at least New Yorkers. This state legalized abortion in 1970, three years before the federal government caught up. The photos below are of the New York State Senate and Assembly votes from April 1970 (they hung in my friend Ross Graham’s apartment until her death recently), a time when New York was fully controlled by Republicans, including Gov. Nelson Rockefeller, N.B.
