Seen & Heard: Zutto has a second location

ZUTTO EXPANDS TO LITTLE ITALY
Zutto has opened a second location in Little Italy/Soho at 384 Broome between Mott and Mulberry. The menu is smaller than our location, but it does feature a DIY sushi handroll platter that looks like a lot of fun.

SUMMER EVENTS IN HUDSON RIVER PARK
There’s a ton of stuff going on in Hudson River Park this summer — their biggest event calendar to date — so I will just mention a few things going on in the Tribeca section. RiverKids — hands-on learning and singalongs — will run Mondays and Thursdays starting June 6 at 4p on Pier 25. And Healthy on the Hudson will host HIIT classes on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 on Pier 25. More events coming to the piers in July.

STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN TO OPEN THIS SUMMER
studiotwentyseven, the design firm led by Nacho Polo, is scheduled to open a 7000-square-foot flagship gallery in the former Matsugen space on Church and Leonard this summer. It will feature “contemporary, iconic, limited edition and collectible works from established and emerging designers along with pieces from the private Art collection of Founder/Creative Director Nacho Polo and Director Robert Onuska.”

LILAC OPENS FOR VISITORS THIS WEEKEND
The Lilac, the lighthouse tender docked on the north side of Pier 25, will be open for the season starting Saturday, May 28. From then on Lilac will be open from 2 to 6p on Saturdays and Sundays through October as well as for special events. Lilac will be 89 years old on May 26th so there will be birthday cake to all visitors during our opening weekend. For details, www.lilacpreservationproject.org.

  1. Is Zutto any good? The original location always looked kinda suspect if you aspect me.

    • It’s amazing — delicious, reliable, charming and very well priced, especially for Tribeca. I think it is employee-owned, but either way it has been in the neighborhood for more than 40 years.

    • The current Zutto is not the original. Anything from this point on is just copy of a copy.
