Seen & Heard: Immersive theater at MOCA

IMMERSIVE THEATER AT MOCA INCLUDES DINNER
The Museum of Chinese in America has a cool immersive theater performance planned six evenings in June, where theatergoers will be the guests at a wedding banquet and will actually be served a 10-course meal curated by Nom Wah Tea Parlor. It’s called “Double Happiness” and it was written by Emily Locke and directed by Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li. From their description: “Double Happiness is a comedic immersive dinner and theatrical show that unpacks the complexity and explores the nuances within the Chinese American/Immigrant identity while allowing the audience to enjoy a (somewhat) traditional Chinese wedding. As the ceremony gets underway, the wedding guests (the audience) see the dynamics of the bride and groom’s families unfold – and unravel.” Tickets here.

ONE WHITE WILL OPEN MONDAYS
One White Street will open its downstairs dining room (and curbside) on Mondays starting on June 6 for the a la carte menu that they usually serve there. (Versus the chef’s prix-fixe menu upstairs.) What also seems to be new is you can make a reservation downstairs as well.

SOHO REP SPRING GALA IS NEXT WEEK
Soho Rep will host its annual spring gala at an outdoor rooftop on the 28th floor of 100 Pearl St. hosted by actress Amber Tamblyn on Monday, June 6. The event will feature one-night-only performances and music from upcoming Soho Rep productions. Tickets are here.

RIDING THE NEW CITI BIKE
I managed to grab one of the new white electric Citi Bikes — they seem pretty rare. They weigh a TON but it is a nice ride. The battery is designed to last longer and ride smoother. They did, once I managed to back it out of the dock on Leonard.
