In the News: A curated guide to the Tribeca Film Festival

CURATING THE TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL
The Times culled through the offerings of the Tribeca Film Festival (I know it is now called the Tribeca Festival but I am sticking with the old name) to pull out the gems, including B.J. Novak’s feature directing debut, “Vengeance”; the “ace feature debut” from the director Natalia Sinelnikova “We Might as Well Be Dead”; and “Good Girl Jane,” a coming-of-age story written and directed by Sarah Elizabeth Mintz.

HOLYWATER ON THE HEATMAP
Eater calls Holywater one of the hottest bars in the city and pins it on its Cocktail Heatmap. “Stepping into Holywater is like finding a ship with a New Orleans-themed bar moored in a sea of Tribeca lofts and office buildings.”

FILE GUMBO BAR AS HEADLINER
The Times makes File Gumbo Bar its headliner of the week.

LOCAL MODEL MAKING CANDLES IN NOLITA
The model Enly Tammela, who lives here in Tribeca, now has a coffee and candle shop in Nolita. The Post did a story largely because she is selling a $490 candle made from four pounds of coconut and soy wax and that burns for 200 hours.

  1. Stupid question but is the Tribeca Festival still in Tribeca? Had the feeling that it had v little presence here which is a shame
