In the News: The Sussexes do Locanda

DUKE AND DUCHESS OUT IN THE NABE
The Post reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex went to Locanda Verde, and required that everyone in the restaurant refrain from taking pictures. Guess it worked. The Post has the paparazzi shots from the stakeout that takes place outside. There’s even more on Page Six.

1 PARK ROW HAS STARTED
YIMBY has a rendering of 1 Park Row (I’ll never know how they manage to get those…), which has been demolished and excavated and is on its way up. It will be a 23-story mixed-use building designed by Fogarty Finger Architects with 58 condos and 19,000 square feet of commercial office and retail space on the lower floors.

REMEMBERING A LONGTIME BPC RESIDENT
The Broadsheet covered the tree-planting ceremony honoring Gus Ouranitsas, who lived in Battery Park City from 1986 until his death from a 9/11-related cancer last year. “Ouranitsas served as the resident manager of the Liberty Court condominium (at 200 Rector Place) from before that building opened to its first residents, 35 years ago…On the morning of September 11, 2001, he helped to organize the evacuation of P.S. 89, where his children were students, then returned to the building he managed to oversee the departure of residents, provide emergency aid and equipment, and secure the entrances to prevent vandalism.”

TRIBECA IS #2, FOR NOW
The Real Deal did some crunching and determined that the West Village topped us in average sale price last quarter, coming in at $3.79M vs. Tribeca at 3.16M. “More than 3,800 condo and co-op deals closed in April, May and June — the most for a second quarter in the last 15 years and the fourth-most in any quarter in history, according to the report.”
