Seen & Heard: Sunset on the Hudson

LAST TWO HRP MUSIC EVENTS IN THE VILLAGE
If you are up for a stroll to Pier 45 at Christopher Street, there are two “Sunset on the Hudson” concerts left for summer: tonight is the Queer Urban Orchestra and next Friday, the 26th, is The Big Takeover — Hudson Valley reggae. Concerts start at 7p.

SCHOOL STARTS THURSDAY, SEPT. 8
Was just perusing the school calendar and thought I would add this here: Public schools start Thursday, Sept. 8. (I think a lot of New York State is starting before Labor Day this year, so not sure how we are starting so late…) You can see the full calendar here.

PICTURING NEW YORK
As part of its 50th year anniversary celebration, Soho Photo Gallery will show images from current and former members made over the last 50 years of our home city. Through Sept. 11 at the gallery, 15 White. Open Wednesday to Sunday 1-6p and by appointment.

SPOTTED LANTERN FLIES ARE BACK
If you see one, squish it. The invasive pests are doing some real damage to native trees and forests.

  1. I have been getting lantern flies inside my apartment when I open my window. Always squish. They are indeed here. I always hear about how they have totally overtaken NJ. But they are fluttering around here too.
