Seen & Heard: More tacos and other restaurant news

A DIFFERENT LOS TACOS ON CANAL
P. caught sight of a new taco shop at the southwest corner of Canal and West Broadway — that really looks like Los Tacos No. 1 but is not: It’s Los Tacos Hermanos, which has two other locations at Sixth and 30th and Eighth and 38th. (This location is in that odd little traffic triangle between West Broadway and Sixth Ave, on the south side of Canal.) A grilled chicken taco is $4.50. More TK.

GREENING THE STREET
Warren Peace has a nice sidewalk set up for these last days of summer.

SIDEWALK SEATING FOR SUSHI OF GARI
Sushi of Gari just added some sidewalk seating — new as far as I can tell.

A TOAST FOR NEIGHBORS AT FILE GUMBO BAR
Filé Gumbo Bar, which opened in June at Church and White/Franklin, will open for dinner on Monday, August 29 (they are usually closed Mondays and Tuesdays) for neighbors and will offer a complementary glass of champagne and a few complementary menu items along with your dinner order. “The Neighborhood Social is a nice opportunity for locals who have not dined with us yet to get an exclusive opportunity to do so, and for us to meet and greet them,” said owner Eric McCree. Book on the website.

BLUESTONE LANE IN HRP
Bluestone Lane now has a coffee cart parked in front of Pier 45, where Drift In is, so if you are in the habit of strolling that way…

  1. Go to File Gumbo Bar and support their and other Tribeca businesses. It’s really good too!

    • I agree that the food is decent. But it is quite pricey for what it is. I think they would do better if the food was better value. Unfortunately, when I was there, the place was empty aside from my table. Hope they can adjust and become successful

  2. Finally coffee in HRP! But they need to wheel that sucker down to Pier 26.
