Seen & Heard: Jazz on Governors

JAZZ ON GOVERNORS THIS WEEKEND
azz artist William Hooker will perform “a suite for the outdoors” on Governors Island in Nolan Park, Buildings 10A and 10B, on Saturday, Sept. 3, 3p. The performance will be 1.5 hours and will feature original composition and improvisation.

RIGOR HILL MARKET COMING SOON
The market side of One White Street, which will offer a lot of the produce from their farm in Ghent as well as NY State products and baked goods, should be ready to go in a month, chef Austin Johnson said. It also now has a name: Rigor Hill Market.

ONE WALL NOW SHOWING INTERIORS
The conversion of One Wall, the 50-story deco building that has the impending Whole Foods on the Broadway side, has finished some interiors. There are 566 condos along with crazy amenities, but I will want to see the tiled Red Room, designed in the 30s by Hildreth Mei√®re and restored to be part of the building’s retail.

CLOTHING & TOILETRY DRIVE FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS
The borough president’s office is sponsoring a clothing and toiletry donation drive in partnership with the New York Immigration Coalition to support the migrants being bussed up from Texas. Drop off is at the downtown office (1 Centre St., 19th floor south).

  1. It is not a birthday party; however if there are enough citizens who want to send me out of NYC, I can organize a farewell party, perhaps a jazz night by Columbia or NYU!
