Community Board 1 agendas for October

The board warns that after Oct. 22, community board members, applicants and public members may be required to attend in person. They are awaiting further guidance from the governor’s office. The public will still be encouraged to attend online.

So until further notice, meetings are still here online and are recorded and posted to the board’s YouTube page. You can also find documents and draft resolutions here. As always, contact the board at man01@cb.nyc.gov. My comments in caps.

OMG I hope not. Based on fuzzy recollections from back then, Pataki had to have his imprint on the WTC rebuilding process, and when the tunnel under West Street proposal was abandoned, came up with the idea that the area between Little West Street and West Street should be a promenade so tourists could get from the Statue of Liberty boats to the WTC. What was left of the community at that time fought against it and wanted more active recreation things (I think it was a playground and one of those adult exercise things but there may have been others) because the tourists were more likely to use Broadway or the esplanade since West Street is not very interesting to walk along. So Pataki got his way and you can see how many tourists are using it for its intended purpose (very few if any). When all of this was happening downtown was so deserted that someone started calling it Patakistan.
