The lost “Peanuts” murals of Greenwich Street

A couple readers have mentioned that there were Peanuts murals on the UPS loading bay docks on Greenwich between Houston and Spring, which have most recently been decorated by the Hudson Square BID, UPS and Trinity Wall Street. And even though I bike down that way all the time, I had no recall, so here they are: dug from the TC media files.

The murals were part of the Peanuts Global Artists Collective and were installed in 2018. The artists for these five, in photos from J. and B. below, in order: Tomokazu Matsuyama, Friendswithyou, Kenny Scharf, Nina Chanel Abney and Andre Saraiva x Mr. A. The first two were on Greenwich; the second two at 100 Watts between Hudson and Varick; the last on 304 Hudson.

  1. Those were so cool…I never even saw them. I do like the color abstract painted doors also, but wonder why they painted over the Peanuts ones. Any ideas? It’s a shame.
