The Slice: A new home for Cafe Amore plus a pizza update

When a door closes… Café Amore (aka iPizza) closed on Chambers last week, but has already taken the space a couple doors down. They opened on Monday. (Thanks to the heads up from DT and John in comments.) The rent at the former space was just too much to handle, they said, and this smaller shop seems like it will do the trick.

New (at least to me) were some gluten free options: a cauliflower crust pizza, and GF penne and baked ziti.

And since we started this in the last post, here’s the updated slice shop list:

  1. Please add Grandaisy to the list. They sell a variety of square slices that are excellent.

I like Saluggi’s also, but I’m not sure whether they sell by the slice….

  2. Crispy Heaven is remarkable in all ways, including Pizza.

  3. Cafe Amore also makes vegan pies, either with their splendid basic crust (the crust Pam says she sometimes picks up) or the new cauliflower based one (I haven’t tried that one yet).
We’ve been going there for years. Back in the 80’s they were across the street near the corner at Greenwich.

  4. I just wish the scaffolding would come down faster as I’m sure it neg impacts business

  5. Did Saluggi’s close permanently?

  6. “For Rent” sign now posted above the restaurant. I guess this smaller shop did not do the trick.
