The Wonder has closed its Tribeca location – but is expanding

Somehow I missed this, so recording it here for the record: The Wonder, the family play space that opened in spring 2019 with a beautiful renovation of the ground floor of 174 Hudson at Vestry, closed this, its first location. It was founded by Sarah Robinson and Noria Morales, friends who met in the fashion industry and who were looking for exactly this kind of space for themselves when their kids were born a few years ago.

BUT! In December 2021, they created another play space at Brookfield Place, where kids can play while parents work (or drink). And starting last summer, the company partnered with a group out of Washington, DC, called The Nook and opened its second Wonder location in Arlington, Virginia. It’s still setup with a monthly membership fee, but with different price points depending on the number of visits.

They are also poised to open their third location in Westport, CT.

The corner spot at 174 Hudson is now a showroom for Spirit, which reps luxury clothing brands from around the world and has a studio in there for fashion photo shoots or events. From their website: “Spirit showroom also offers market space to brands looking to open up their potential client base by offering showroom space and costumer interaction through the fashion worlds sales seasons.” Note to self…
