BOOK FESTIVAL + A.O. SCOTT AT MUSEUM
The Museum of Jewish Heritage will host an inaugural New York Jewish Book Festival, featuring free talks, panels, author talks and signings, on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 10a to 9p. The daylong event hosted with the Battery Park City Authority will touch on themes of Jewish heritage, including culture and history, modern life and literature, the Holocaust, food and cookbooks, and books and activities for kids and families. And on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7p, the museum will present a screening of the first episode of the new FX miniseries “Fleishman Is in Trouble” followed by a conversation with showrunner Taffy Brodesser-Akner and A.O. Scott, film critic at The New York Times. Register here.

SEAPORT MENORAH LIGHTING CELEBRATION
To mark the beginning of Hanukkah on Sunday, Dec. 18, the Jewish Learning Center will host its annual menorah lighting at the Seaport. The celebration will start at the Ice Rink and include traditional Hanukkah treats, musical entertainment from local artists, and end with the lighting on the Heineken Riverdeck featuring the Seaport’s new 15- foot tall nautical menorah designed by Moully Art.
