Seen & Heard: Banksy exhibit coming to Broadway
BANKSY EXHIBIT ON BROADWAY
Thanks to J. for the heads up: “Banksy in New York, Defaced, An Unauthorized Exhibition,” opened at 378 Broadway at White yesterday. It’s up till May. I will check it out, but in the meantime, here’s what the site says: “The exhibition will bring October 2013 back to life by describing the itinerary followed by Banksy through the Big Apple and by reproducing some of the artist’s most iconic works including Girl with Balloon, Love is in the Air (Flower Thrower), Gangsta Rat, Toxic Mary and many others.” It also says it will have 80 original works. Below is my personal Banksy, created by my talented cross-stitching pal.

SIXPOINT BREWERY GETTING CLOSER
The Sixpoint Brewery Taproom scheduled for Brookfield at 200 Liberty is finally coming into focus — literally — now that they have added some signage. Thanks to A. for the shot. More here, but the scheduled opening is for late 2023. NB: The beer is brewed in Brooklyn; this will just be a taproom. They also have a taproom in Downtown Brooklyn.
DUANE READE AT 100 BROADWAY WILL CLOSE
J. sent word that the two-story Duane Reade at 100 Broadway across from Trinity Church is closing on Feb. 23. I always thought there were too many chain pharmacies, but now it feels like they might be missed…

Just read that French department store Printemps is opening in the 1 Wall Street area . . wonder if that is why Duane Reade is closing — or are they not the same building? Just had my COVID booster at that location. . oh well!
Duane Reade is the block north.
Printemps is opening above Whole Foods at the One Wall Street building though it will actually be on the corner of Broadway and Exchange) in approximately 52,000 sf of space. They are also taking over the famed Red Room which has an entrance onto Wall Street for a boutique. Between now and it opening in the Spring of 2024, they plan to do various popups throughout FiDi!
