Seen & Heard: Adopt a cat for St. Patty’s!

CAT ADOPTIONS TOMORROW
This Saturday, March 18, Best Friends Animal Society at 307 West Broadway at Canal will host a cat adoption event with Little Wanderers from 12-5p. Take home a cat the same day. All pets come vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Visit bestfriends.org/new-york-city for more information. Cat adoption fees start at $100.

SHRED-A-THON THIS SATURDAY
Tomorrow, March 18, the Downtown Alliance is partnering with the LES Ecology Center for an e-waste recycling and shred-a-thon fest on Fulton Street between Ryders Alley and Cliff Street. A mobile shredding truck will securely destroy and recycle all sensitive documents, tax receipts and old bills from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the truck is filled. They are also accepting electronics (working and non-working). See the full list here.

MINI NOSY NEIGHBOR:
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION BUS DOING ON THE SIDEWALK?

H. sent a couple of shots of the Downtown Connection bus, which looks like it ran aground on the sidewalk on Warren and West Broadway. In fact the bus had stopped at that point to try to navigate the Con-Ed van parked on the street ahead in addition to the cars parked on either side of it. A Connection dispatchers then went to the site and assisted the driver in backing the bus back onto the street and at that same time, ConEd moved their truck to allow traffic to flow. Phew!

GOTAN IN JERSEY CITY
Gotan, the coffee shop (and excellent breakfast spot) at the Franklin Street station, has opened an outpost in Jersey City at 199 Van Vorst Street at Morris. The grand opening is March 20.

DANIEL BOULUD IN TILE
Barron’s has a fun Q&A with Daniel Boulud, who took over the Augustine space last May (I had such a fun meal there at the bar — just way behind in writing it up!). I didn’t realize there was a mosaic of him on the Second Avenue subway platform at 72nd! It’s part of artist Vik Muniz’s “Perfect Strangers” murals — colorful portraits that made their debut in 2017 on the Q line.
