Sneak Peek: New sports bar on Park Place

I’ll save the official “new kid” for when they have their kitchen up and running (the gas, of course, is delayed so it’s a soft open for now with the hopes they are ready to go in three weeks) but in the meantime, here’s a look at Brickyard Craft Kitchen and Bar, which opened last week (thanks to J. for the heads up) in the former Barleycorn space at 23 Park Place between Church and Broadway.

They only have the first floor — Barleycorn had two — but the space is huge with too many TV screens to count (I think there are 40). The space runs through to Murray, but as I recall from their liquor licensing hearing at CB1, they have agreed not to use that door for patrons or garbage.

The concept is wings and brick oven pizza, with loads of beers — 40 taps in total. General manager Raj Kumar said he hoped to have 15 IPAs in place eventually. Plus there are margaritas on tap as well.

He also manages a sister restaurant in Midtown on 57th — All Stars Bar & Grill, which has been opened for five years and is a similar concept.

Hours for now are 11a to 9p, with a happy hour going all day — 11a to 8p.

  1. I stopped by this place on Wed afternoon and was very impressed. HUGE venue that should be a great place to watch games. A very nice addition to this area.

Hopefully that 9pm close time is pushed back soon, as you can’t see the end of most local sports by that time.

  2. We dropped in on Saturday for the Final Four games. They extended the hours to 11pm as of last weekend – hooray! Also, the door on Murray was indeed open for us to exit and they said would be good to enter as well. Jenelda (apologies if I misspelled that) is super friendly and awesome, Keith is a great bartender, and I can’t wait until that huge brick pizza oven gets fired up. They have lots of options for the IPA fans, I wish there were more stouts or brown ales on tap, small complaints though. I will be here all the time. I hope Brickyard lasts forever, we badly needed a massive true sports bar in our neighborhood.

  3. Looks like a great space. Looking forward to checking it out!

  4. I have been there a few times during lunch and even brought a few co-workers on one occasion. Has never been overly business and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

I was hoping that the pizza station was open but was grateful that there were other food options. The food was ok, but $23 for a steak quesadilla for lunch, was a bit pricey….
