Seen & Heard: Candidate challenging Chris Marte

CANDIDATE CHALLENGING MARTE FOR COUNCIL SEAT
Downtown resident Ursila Jung is challenging Councilman Chris Marte, who was just elected in November 2021, for his seat. The primary is June 27; the last day to request your absentee ballot online or by mail is June 12; early voting starts June 17 to June 25.

BABY EXPO AT COCOON
Cocoon will host a free Baby Expo on its patio at 316 Greenwich on Sunday, May 21, from 10a to noon. There will be makers of maternity clothes, baby clothes, healthy meal kits, premium diapers and other products and services.

NEW EXHIBIT AT THE FIRE MUSEUM
The New York City Fire Museum has a new exhibition called Strike Up the Band: A Tribute to the Bands of the Bravest, exploring the rich history of the Department’s musicians. The exhibit will take visitors through more than 100 years of musical history through objects such as bagpipes and drums, uniforms, trophies and photographs from throughout the bands’ histories, as well as modern video displays. Through late August 2023.

ACTORS STUDIO REPERTORY SEASON
Now through mid May, the renowned Actors Studio Drama School (an affiliate of Pace University) is mounting its annual Repertory Season, a repertoire of nine cutting-edge plays, in the performance space at 80 Greenwich (between Rector and Edgar Streets). Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance. Each staging in the six-week festival takes place on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (Shows start at 7:30pm each night, with a Saturday 3pm matinee also available.)
