In the News: Cats rescued from Ann Street

CATS RESCUED FROM 55 ANN
Gothamist has a story about two cats — among a few — that were rescued from 55 Ann, one of the buildings that has been vacated around the collapsed garage that killed the garage’s manager last week. Department of Buildings workers reunited Sandy Imhoff, who has lived in the building since 1977, with her two feline roommates on Thursday. “I personally didn’t think the cats were going to survive,” Imhoff said. The cats — Dave, 12 and Cathy, 14 — were found underneath Imhoff’s bed after an unsuccessful rescue attempt earlier in the week.

Some folks and their pets are still living on the block, which must be nuts.

A FAREWELL VISIT TO FORGIONE’S READE STREET
Eater makes a last visit to Marc Forgione on Reade Street, which just reopened this month after renovations. They said he is leaving due to a rent hike; his plan now is to move to the former Brushstroke space at 30 Hudson in July. He is still serving his classics including the chili lobster. “This is a dish we’ve sort of become known for, but it didn’t become wildly popular until Sam Sifton, then the restaurant critic for the New York Times, wrote his review of the restaurant, devoting a whole paragraph to chili lobster.”

ANTHONY BOURDAIN, MY CAMERA AND ME
In Vanity Fair, Tribecan Melanie Dunea talks about her many years of friendship with Anthony Bourdain, her favorite picture (of many) she took of him and also tells the backstory on her iconic shot of him, naked and posed with a giant, bloody who-knows-what bone that she picked up that morning from Ottomanelli & Sons on Bleecker Street. See more of her shots and her TCQ&A here.

GETTING CLOSER ON 111 WALL
Yimby has shots of the renovation work at 111 Wall Street, the 25-story commercial building designed by STUDIOS Architecture and developed by Wafra Capital Partners and The Nightingale Group. “The $100 million project involves the replacement of the structure’s midcentury façade with a modern glass curtain wall and the full gut renovation of its 1.5 million square feet of office space, as well as the construction of an expanded lobby and amenity spaces designed by URBN Playground on the lower floors.”
