Seen & Heard: CB1 DM leaving the neighborhood

CB1’S LUCIAN REYNOLDS MOVING TO HPD
Community Board 1 district manager Lucian Reynolds is leaving the board for a role as chief of staff for the city’s Housing Preservation and Development’s division of new construction and supportive housing. I can surely attest: it’s a loss. Lucian, a city planner by trade and education, came to the board in February 2018 and was always super helpful to me, which is not always the case with community boards + the press. By chance, I happened to get this shot at the opening of the new park under the Brooklyn Bridge, with board chair Tammy Meltzer and board member Wendy Chapman.

NEW TOUR AT THE 9/11 MEMORIAL
The 9/11 Memorial has released a new audio guide for a 40-minute outdoor tour about the events of 9/11, the victims of the attack, and the memorial’s design. Devices with headphones are available for rent on the plaza for $8 and you can reserve those here, or you can download an app from the Apple store. The tour is narrated by Anthoula Katsimatides, a New Yorker whose brother, John, was killed on 9/11; it leads listeners around the North Pool, down to the South Pool, to the Survivor Tree and the 9/11 Memorial Glade.

DINNER ON DUANE PARK
Friends of Duane Park is hosting another dinner on the park, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10, 4p reception, 5-8pm dinner, rain or shine. This year’s menu comes from folks at One White Street and the table will be set for 175 guests. Tickets go on sale on June 1 for $250. See more info here.

NEW GALLERY AT 350 BROADWAY
J. spotted a new gallery at 350 Broadway at Leonard: Silke Lindner, named for the gallerist. I will get in there eventually, but in the meantime, the show up now is Tomás Díaz Cedeño: Humming Songs — ceramic bas-relief wall pieces, framed in steel, and a floor installation of motorized rattles from rattlesnakes that are activated by the visitors’ movements.
