DINE AROUND AT FOSUN PLAZA TUESDAY
For a great lunch break next week: the Downtown Alliance’s festival celebrating the restaurants of Fidi — Dine Around Downtown — will take place on Tuesday, June 6, 11a to 3p at Fosun Plaza, 28 Liberty. There are 42 Fidi local restaurants participating, including Temple Court, Schilling, Malibu Farm and The Fulton. Admission to the festival is free but tastings are $5 to $9 each. For food purchases, cash is generally accepted and ATMs are located nearby the plaza.
CHURCH STREET SCHOOL’S ‘THE HAPPENING’
Church Street School for Music & Art will hold its annual block party on Sunday, June 4, from noon to 4p outside on White Street between Church and Franklin Place. There will be live musical performances by students, faculty and special guests; interactive art projects; a student art show; games; food and drink; and a brand new Maker Market featuring crafts from independent makers. More info and registration here.
WINSTON’S COMING SOON??
Winston’s, the bar that is scheduled to replace Ward III on Reade, looks like it’s making progress, but it’s slow going. They applied for their liquor license in March 2022
POLISHING THE UN-NAMED BEAN
Anish Kapoor’s sculpture at 56 Leonard, which I just call The Bean, is getting repaired and has been for a couple weeks now. (A. and H. have sent pics over the spring.) A woman stationed as a guard said they are touching it up, but I think two of the seams have moved since it was first installed. Also, she said it is still unnamed. The one in Chicago is called Cloud Gate. More soon on that, I hope.

Was it graffiti?
No – as I said, it’s seams. You can see them.
It’s quite unseemly.
There you have it.
What is that stain on the sculpture by the ladder?
Scotch tape
Looks like Winston’s is no longer..
