Seen & Heard: The sad remains of Kings

THE REMNANTS OF KINGS
Kings is now just a shell — both E. and C. sent photos — and as C. said when she sent the first pic, “barely cold in the grave.” It’s tough to see. And I am still thinking of things I need grab when walking by…

JUNGSIK GETTING SOME RENOS
Jungsik, our two-star restaurant on Harrison and Hudson, will be closed from July 3 to July 25 for renovations to the building. The renovations will not alter the restaurant’s cosmetics or effect the guest experience in any way.

MMUSEUMM IS OPEN FOR THE SEASON
The Mmuseumm, the diminutive museum space on Cortlandt Alley, has reopened. Public hours are Friday – Sunday 11am – 6pm; private tours are available during other hours for a donation of $100 to Mmuseumm. And there’s 24/7 viewing through the windows. The photo is from their opening night party.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SERAFINA’S ROOF DECK
Serafina had some complaints about it’s rooftop dining situation, so CB1’s Licensing Committee pushed them off till July. In fact, CB1 is now requiring that renewals also come to the meetings. As it is now, only new applicants come to the meetings as a matter of course, but the board has had complaints about some renewals.

  1. Serafina’s problem is architecture, they’re on a low floor with high walls all around them – it acts like an amphitheater and amplifies the noise, reflecting it out into the neighborhood. I don’t think they’re doing anything different than other outdoor dining, they’re just an unfortunate victim of physics. I wonder if there are acoustic solutions they could look into to minimize disturbance later at night.
