Ortuzar Projects, the gallery currently installed in a beautiful space at 9 White, has taken over the Town Stages space, so they will have 10,000 square feet running from 5 White to 211 West Broadway, making an L around One White Street.
The gallery was founded by Ales Ortuzar, a former partner at David Zwirner Gallery, in 2018 and is dedicated to promoting artists who have played a significant role in the development of 20th and 21st-century art but have not recently received critical exposure in New York.
When I popped in at the end of June they were just unearthing the structural columns in the new space, which had been coated with concrete fireproofing. Caplan & Colaku Architecture are designing the new space and they hope to have it open in November.
