Seen & Heard: Preschool fair at Cocoon

PRESCHOOL FAIR THIS WEEKEND
Cocoon, the play space for families, will host a free preschool fair with more than a dozen local preschools on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10:30a to 12:30p at outdoor space in front of 316 Greenwich at Duane. Meet representatives from local schools in person and learn more about schools through a speaker series: 11:10a- Ya Ya Preschool on “The Benefits of Full Immersion in Early Years”; 11:40am – Green Ivy Schools on “Montessori-inspired and Multi-lingual Education in the Early Years”; 12:10pm – Tribeca Community School on “What Does Reggio Emilia-Inspired Education Look Like in A Classroom?” See more info here.

TASTE OF THE SEAPORT COMING SEPT. 23
The 13th annual Taste of the Seaport food festival returns on Saturday, Sept. 23, to raise money for Peck Slip and Spruce Street schools. The day-long culinary festival will bring together more than 40 restaurants and businesses, live music and entertainment, artists, and family-friendly play zones at Piers 16 and 17. Funds raised will go toward student cultural enrichment programs and teacher professional development programs for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. Early bird tickets are $55. See more here.

MANHATTAN POWER 100
Captain Jonathan Boulware, the president & CEO of the South Street Seaport Museum; Councilman Chris Marte; Phillip Jackson, the rector at Trinity Wall Street; Tribecan and US Rep. Dan Goldman; were in good company on City & State’s Manhattan Power 100 list, which honors “the borough’s most influential political players,” from elected and appointed officials to business executives and leaders in the arts and the nonprofit sector.
