Seen & Heard: Movie night in WMP this Friday

NO ONE PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER
The Friends of Washington Market Park will host another movie night (though the first one got rained out — they may be able to reschedule) screening “Dirty Dancing” on Friday, Sept. 22, 7:30p. BYO blanket. Info here.

WINE TASTING AT BROOKFIELD
Brookfield Place is hosting a free wine tasting event on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 5:30-7:30p on the plaza to promote the wines of Wölffer Estate Vineyard. Reservations can be made here. An expert sommelier will guide guests through tastings of a curated wine flight and discuss flavor profiles, notes, what pairs best with each. And there will be snacks paired with each tasting.

IL GIGLIO ON GREENWICH
Il Mulino is now Il Giglio — with a fresh sign. More when I can stop by this week. I assume this is not to be confused with the former Il Giglio on Warren, but I will find out!

COASTAL RESILIENCE EXPO FOR FIDI AND SEAPORT
The city’s Economic Development Corporation and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice will host an expo on Thursday, Sept. 21, to explain the Fidi & Seaport Climate Resilience Plan and other resiliency initiatives occurring throughout the City. The public can come and go during two sessions: 9a to 1p and 4 to 8p, both at the Battery Maritime Building, just next to the Staten Island ferry terminal. Register here.

BLACK EXHAUSTION AT SHIRLEY FITERMAN
The Shirley Fiterman Art Center at BMCC will show “Black Exhaustion,” featuring the work of Noel W. Anderson, through December 2. The show explores Black male identity through American media. Anderson’s process starts with found images appropriated from various archives and media outlets that he digitally manipulates through mirroring, inverting, cropping or other forms of distortion before it is reproduced as a cotton jacquard tapestry. More info here.

  1. Quick note; Il Mulino (now Il Giglio) is on Greenwich Street – not West Broadway.

  2. Is Il Giglio open? No one answers the phone and Google and Open Table reviews say the same going back a couple of weeks.
