Seen & Heard: Visit your firehouse

FDNY OPEN HOUSE 2023
The FDNY is doing a citywide open house on Oct. 7 and 8, and while most of the Tribeca and Fidi firehouses are on their map for the event, NB that Ladder 8 on N. Moore — the Ghostbusters firehouse — is not. Not sure why… There will be demonstrations, fire safety tips, tours, etc. The sessions are 11a to 1p or 1p to 3p.

ANNUAL SCAVENGER HUNT FROM BOGARDUS
The Friends of Bogardus Plaza will host the Great Tribeca Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 5p. There’s $1600 in prizes from all sorts of local businesses — restaurants, wine stores and retail. Tickets are $40 and kids under 7 are free. Sign up here.

SHRED-A-THON IN FIDI
The Downtown Alliance is co-sponsoring a paper and textile shred-a-ton on Oct. 14, from 10a to 2p, on Fulton between Cliff and Ryders Alley. You can take clothes, accessories, shoes and household linens (but NOT comforters, pillows, rugs or luggage); paper is limited to 10 boxes or garbage bags per person.

PARKING METER RATES GO UP OCT. 16
New parking meter rates start Oct. 16, and they are steep! It looks like the meters on Hudson will be $5.00 for the 1st hour / $8.25 for the 2nd hour with a max payment of $13.25. The commercial rates are a lot higher. See the interactive map here.
