A. spotted it in the old Livly children’s clothing store (which closed in April) at 108 Reade: Sugared + Bronzed, a hair removal and spray tan salon that has seven other locations in the city.
The company offers two services: a hair removal technique called sugaring that they say dates back to ancient Egypt and uses a paste made of sugar, lemon and water; and an airbrush tan called the FlexExpress, because it can be showered off an hour later.
The company was founded in 2010 by Courtney Claghorn, a spray tan enthusiast who began offering tanning services out of her Santa Monica apartment while keeping her day job at a fintech company. They now have 24+ locations in California, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
