Happy Thanksgiving to all, and thanks to all who make this a great place to live

It’s hard to picture Tribeca without Washington Market Park (well, I know some of you can do it!) and all it offers as the perfect neighborhood green space. It is 40 years old this year, and while that can’t quite compete with Duane Park (226 this year), a happy anniversary to a park that was created by neighbors, for neighbors, from a parking lot.

The Friends of Washington Market Park produces all its events with exclusively volunteer power — join them! And today, a big thank you to everyone who contributes to the list of neighborhood volunteer organizations below. They are the essential threads in the Tribeca urban fabric.

As always, my thanks to you readers and subscribers — you make this whole thing go ’round *and* are my eyes and ears — and to my sponsors and advertisers, who make the Tribeca Citizen an actual (small) business.

And two special acknowledgements: to the readers who live on Franklin Street, for keeping me up to date on not only the Tribeca Gallery District but also the disaster that has become 65 Franklin and the buildings that surround it. I’d like to think that situation will have a happy ending, but there will be a lot of pain before then.

And to ‘James Bogardus,’ whose expertise shows no bounds and who is a resource for all of us.

Happy Thanksgiving.
