Seen & Heard: Eataly Soho opening delayed

EATALY SOHO WILL NOT OPEN THIS WEEKEND
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the opening has been rescheduled to the first week of December. See a sneak peek of the new location here.

GOURMET GARAGE SOHO HAS CLOSED
The Gourmet Garage on Broome in Soho closed last month, but it seems ours is still hanging on. Readers have mentioned that the shelves are looking bare, but when I spoke to them there were no plans for closing… The company still has a store on West 66th and Hudson and 12th Street.

TREE LIGHTING AT THE SEAPORT
South Street Seaport Museum will host its annual tree lighting on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 6 to 7p with live performances and family activities. And the Seaport Museum will open its galleries for special extended hours from 5 to 8p. The events are free, but you can register here: seaportmuseum.org/holiday-baggywrinkle

DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY SCENES IN PAPER
The Downtown Alliance commissioned a digital holiday card from Italian artist Stefano Bertelli, who animated wintertime vignettes of Lower Manhattan set to Ella Fitzgerald’s rendition of “Winter Wonderland.” Bertelli, who won a Webby Award for his work on a music video for Frank Sinatra’s version of “Let it Snow,” created the entire montage with folded paper using a stop-motion technique. Even Charging Bull comes alive.

  1. Not quite in Tribeca but definitely in Community Board 1. There is a proposal for a men’s shelter at 41-43 Beekman (corner of Williams) which could house up to 170 single men.
