Seen & Heard: Battery founder & Signe Nielsen to give NYBG lectures

Battery Conservancy founder Warrie Price and Tribecan and landscape architect Signe Nielsen will each take one part of the New York Botanical Garden’s 24th Annual Winter Lecture Series, “From Skyline to Shoreline: Imaginative Waterfronts of NYC,” which celebrates three distinguished individuals who have meaningfully contributed to New York City’s green spaces over the past several decades, using innovative designs for urban waterfront parks that exhibit a remarkable convergence of art, nature, narrative and community. Price, who founded the conservancy in 1994, will speak on Feb. 22 from 11a to noon; Nielsen, who will discuss her work on Little Island, has March 28. See info and tickets here.

TARA KITCHEN TAKES MOROCCO TO INDIA
Chef Aneesa Waheed, who opened her fifth Tara Kitchen here in February, just cut the ribbon on India’s first Moroccan restaurant, located in her hometown, Hyderabad, the country’s fourth most populous city. The 60-seat restaurant will specialize in Aneesa’s tagine cooking and other Moroccan cuisine staples. The location joins her original restaurants in the Albany area.

WHITMANS BURGERS HAS CLOSED
This may have happened a while ago, but I just noticed that Whitmans, on Hudson just north of Canal, has closed. They still have their two locations in the East Village and Hudson Yards.
