Seen & Heard: Couriers stayed

NEITHER SNOW NOR RAIN NOR GLOOM OF NIGHT…
But maybe an empty gas tank? P & K spotted this guy stuck in a lane of traffic for a couple days. The hazards were on for a while, but then even those gave up.

COMING SOON TO READE??
I had hopes for this for a while — the former Ward III on Reade and West Broadway — but despite the coming soon banner, it looks pretty unfinished on the inside…

GOVERNORS ISLAND ICE CARVING — LIVE
Governors Island will host its third annual Ice Sculpture Show on Saturday, Feb. 3, from noon to 5p. The carvers, who were already selected in a juried panel, will carve live outside. The panelists included Tribecan and Real Housewife Jenna Lyons; writer and editor Miya Lee; New York City Councilman Chi Ossé; and Hollis Kam, SVP of the Times Square Alliance, which is a co-sponsor of the event.

A NOTE OF THANKS TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD
This from Ivy and Lance Lappin, who closed their salon on West Broadway at the end of the year:

Dear Tribeca,
You’ve been nothing but a great friend, supportive before, during and after every major event we’ve faced together: the first attack on the World Trade Center, the financial crisis, the attack on September 11, 2001, and finally the pandemic that shut us all down in 2020. Which brings me to this moment of gratitude.

Tribeca and everyone who traveled to visit us over these last 38 years: your support and encouragement through the trip that this has been leaves us with full hearts and memories that will take us till the end of our lives. It’s impossible for me to put into words, especially these days when it’s best to keep things short. Thank you seems so insufficient. But thanks is what I have to give. I’ll never be able to express what this community means to us, both as a business and a family that got to participate in a small town community that lives within the greatest, largest city in the world.

For those of you who are interested you’ll be able to find Nicole, Lau, JV, Kiyo and Norma at the Cutler Salon (212-308-3838). Marco Michelus at 917-371-7186. Lance will be working Wednesday to Saturday at Arte Salon (212-941-5932). ~Ivy and Lance
