Seen & Heard: Happy 400th birthday

400 YEARS OF NEW AMSTERDAM
This is a cool program, but even better: the historical image of Fidi that they sent with it! The NYC Department of Records and Information Services will host an online program on Dutch colonial records to mark the 400th Anniversary of the arrival of the Dutch in New York on Friday, Feb. 2, from 1 to 2p, on Zoom. (On February 2, 1653, the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Dutch West India Company issued a charter officially establishing a government structure like those existing in the Netherlands.) Agency staff and historians from the New Amsterdam History Center, the Lower Manhattan Historical Association and cultureNOW will join the discussion. RSVP here.

NEW GIFT SHOP ON READE
More soon on this as well, but there’s a new gift shop on Reade between Greenwich and Hudson called — I think — Coming Soon.
