Blue Spoon Coffee on Chambers will close tomorrow

Blue Spoon Coffee Company, which opened on Chambers just west of Broadway in 2005, will close tomorrow. J. sent a picture of the note below, and owner Heather Teegarden confirmed with me on LinkedIn. It’s a real loss.

The good news is she is keeping her William Street location open.

Heather opened Chambers — her first shop — just about 19 years ago. I loved sitting in that window to watch the world go by. She said in her note that the business never bounced back after covid, thanks to workers going remote, and the shop couldn’t sustain itself. “This coupled with an immediate family member’s recent passing has led me to the difficult decision to close this location,” she wrote.

“I thank all my loyal customers for their support and love over the years. There have been so many friendships and connections made, life milestones witnessed and happy memories shared and I am eternally grateful for being able to be part of your lives and part of this community. I will miss you.”

  1. I am curious what kind of rent they were paying monthly. So many businesses left Chambers. Sad

  2. I went by the Chambers Street location today and couldn’t believe it! Sooo disappointed, because I was hankering for a hot panini with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Heaven on Earth. I will make a special trek to William Street location.

  3. This is so sad. I’ve been eating lunch there a couple of times a week almost since they opened. I’ll really miss this place.
