Seen & Heard: Brooklyn Bread is open

BROOKLYN BREAD CAFE IS OPEN
Brooklyn Bread Cafe, which has taken the OneSeed space across the plaza from 111 Murray, opened this morning. Their hours are 6a to 7p, seven days. They have two locations in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens, where, they say, they bake all their own breads and pastries. I will get over there this week to check it out. (Thanks to A. for the shot.)

VINTAGE POP-UP ON WEST BROADWAY
S. wrote that there’s a vintage pop-up store on weekends at 226 West Broadway between White and Franklin called Levi’s Knits N Knackeries, run by Levi Cohen.

AN ODE TO LOWER MANHATTAN
It’s been on my list for a while to rewatch “The Adjustment Bureau,” the Matt Damon/Emily Blunt movie from 2011, which ends kind of abruptly but is a fun ride till then with some solid chemistry between those two. And even excepting them, it’s an all-star cast. But what I didn’t remember is it’s also an ode to Lower Manhattan. You’ll catch Staple Street, the Seaport, the Brooklyn Bridge, and this line: “Lower Manhattan is layer upon layer of substrate that’s why the doors have been added over time. It’s a lot more complex to navigate downtown than uptown — and a lot slower.” And yes, the plot requires that Damon wear a fedora.

  1. “And, yes, the plot requires that Damon wear a fedora.”

I don’t see AI coming up with that line any time soon. Bravo!
