Seen & Heard: Colony moves to new space on Varick

COLONY GALLERY MOVES TO VARICK
Colony, the gallery and designer coop that was founded on Canal 10 years ago, has moved to a beautiful new space on Varick between Leonard and Franklin, though the address is actually 196 West Broadway. More soon from founder Jean Lin in a great TCQ&A.

BELLE REVE AT MACAO TRADING
The folks from Belle Reve, which closed when the building was sold, are tending bar at their sister restaurant, Macao Trading, three nights a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 4p to 2a.

FREE ZUMBA IN BPC
I got roped into a Zumba class by a Battery Park City pal — outdoors under the Irish Hunger Memorial — and it was a blast. Talk about all-comers. I would say there was a 50-year age range, with all sorts of abilities. Plus a great crowd of onlookers who joined it here and there, including the rollerblading class from Stuy and a woman with a stroller who wheeled her baby around with the movements. Tuesdays and Fridays, 10:30a. Find the event list here.

PROGRESS AT 24 MURRAY
…aka 111 Church or 27 Park Place is installing its storefront windows at long last. Great looking building, but it’s been going going since at least January 2021.

  1. Glad to see 24 Murray coming along, but I wish they hadn’t painted it! The brick looked great.

  2. On 24 Murray: how long now since that fire? Five years?
