“Meadow Lane” coming to Harrison and Greenwich

A place called Meadow Lane is coming to the former Chanson space on Harrison and Greenwich and it sounds like they do it all: grab-and-go, prepared meals, produce, floral arrangements, smoothies, pastries and catering. Thanks to G. and B. for the photos.

I can’t find a trace online, and the QR code does not work, so more TK. Also, I am pretty confident that no one has applied for a liquor license, and while the Chanson one would be active, they would have to transfer it with CB1…

Why they can’t open till fall is a mystery. The place has been renovated twice in nine years, and we know that Chanson did major work in the basement kitchen — I toured it after it was closed by the Health Department and I can tell you the place was in good shape. Working backwards, Chanson closed last July; they had taken the Maison Kayser space in June 2020 and opened a year later, after gutting what was a very nice space. Maison Kayser closed in September 2019; they opened in 2015. The Harrison closed in late 2014, which means we have been missing it for a decade.

  1. Space will probably continue to struggle, very difficult to pay market rent (on a per square foot basis) there because the space is sneakily large but inefficient. Would have to sell a lot of cocktails/wine to make it work (think an all day/night dining/hangout spot like Balthazar, Odeon, the old Barbuto) but doubt the neighborhood would allow that nowadays.

  2. Seems like it could be a great addition to the neighborhood! Hopefully it lasts.

  3. This morning a little before 9am my daughter dropped her favorite stuffed doll near the LPQ on the corner of West Broadway and Greenwich. It My First Dolly by Gund. I was wondering if anyone might have found it. Thank you.
