ANOTHER GALLERY FOR THE DISTRICT?
Thanks to J. for this: The retail property at 371 Broadway, between Franklin and White, was leased to the Hanwha Foundation Of Culture, which I believe is a Korean arts organization that is currently also building a modern art museum in Seoul.

PORKY HEFER AT GALERIE56
Galerie56 is showing “Porky Hefer: No Bats, No Chocolate,” an interactive exhibit running through August 26 that will showcase the handcrafted “animal architecture” of South African artist Porky Hefer. “The playful yet poignant animal-inspired sculptures are designed to awaken the imaginations of youth, highlighting each animal’s ingenuity while also instilling necessary commentary on the negative effects our world has on wildlife.”

TRIBECA IN OILS
Maine painter Louise Bourne, who spends time in the neighborhood, has a new painting titled “D Dinkins & Smyth,” oil on canvas 36 x 24″. More on her work here.
