Olive’s, the Soho stalwart — 32 years! — that also has an outpost at Hudson Eats, will open in the former Sweetgreen space on Greenwich and Hubert this fall. They were scheduled to be on the July agenda of CB1’s Licensing Committee for a wine, beer and cider license, but the presentation has been postponed till September. (When M, spotted the notice last month, we were confident but not absolutely positive.)
Grub Street did a feature on owners Toni Allocca and Nick Hartman in 2016 — it’s now posted in the window of 443 Greenwich — where they noted that in 1992, it wasn’t easy to find a salad in a box. “Home-cooked chicken. Fresh-baked cookies. You really couldn’t get simple, clean, fresh food to-go back then,” Allocca told Grub Street. The story went on: “Not much about Olive’s has changed during that time: The menu is comprised of 70 percent of the original sandwiches, soups, and salads; the shop still attracts creative types (David Bowie was a regular); and Allocca, as well as her family, still work there every day.”
(It’s actually a great story about small businesses, and why some work and others don’t. In short, the owner has to work the store!) “If there’s even ten of Olive’s, it’s not the same experience,” Hartman told Grub Street. “You’re not going to get to know us, or see my daughter in the store.”
Still, they opened at Hudson Eats in Brookfield in 2014 (where if I am correct, they do have some beers on tap); they moved the original to a new location in 2016. And now Tribeca. More TK when I listen in on the CB1 meeting.

Great news!! I’ve been a fan since they opened their first location on Prince St (before they relocated to their current spot further west). Their Cowboy cookies are a personal fave. Welcome to Tribeca, Olive’s.
I love Olive’s. Glad it’s joining the Neighborhood.
I can’t wait. I missed my customers. Working at olives for the last 9 years as been really incredible. The owners are so nice and respectful . I really missed them since they close down from Brookfield place. No other place like olives. I miss they hot coco
