Community Board 1 has returned to in-person meetings; however the public is encouraged to use Webex live due to capacity constraints. Meetings are also recorded and posted to the board’s YouTube page. You can also find documents and draft resolutions here. As always, contact the board at man01@cb.nyc.gov. My comments in caps.
PS: I am *still* woefully behind on CB1 reports. Promise to catch up this week. Comment if there’s something you are dying to know about and I will follow up.

Ah! Thanks!
Parent here.
$5 Citibike for students ?
Nope.
It is bad enough that adult bicyclists are dangerous for pedestrians – but teens are even worse.
Not only do teens go through red lights, the wrong way etc – it is not uncommon for teens to double up with friends in the basket.
Teens should be using bus and subway. And walk (what a concept)
And heads up – this year the City is giving OMNY cards to students that can be used beyond school commutes.
10/1 Transportation & Street Activity Permits Committee – 7p
Request for MTA bus route on Rt 9A between W.14th St and Chambers St. (in support of CB2 resolution) THIS IS A WORTHY CAUSE. WOULD MAKE GETTING TO THE CHELSEA PIERS A BREEZE.
This is an awesome idea, if they could extend to Chelsea Piers that would be great! Add additional buses during afterschool as many schools, and families go to Pier 40, and Chelsea Piers. Make it a semi-express bus with stops at Canal, Pier 40, Christopher Street, 14th Street, and then Chelsea Piers. I’m all aboard for this!
Sadly, the MTA has been cutting bus routes, bus frequency and bus stops for years.
City DOT makes the bus situation even worse by shrinking street space, closing streets which then mean spillover traffic on streets with buses and implementing open streets forcing bus detours.
That is on top of the continual street closures for street fairs, bike events, charity events….
Is 18 William the Interactive Theater proposal that CB1 turned down in 2020 sighting it would create deterioration for the neighborhood and a traffic nightmare? I can’t see them saying yes to this now especially given all the residential condo conversions happening….
Yes, and it’s already open I believe…
Do you know if Casa Brazilian got their liquor license approved? How quickly after an approval are restaurants allowed to serve alcohol? Thanks!
They are on the CB1 agenda for October. I do not know how long the SLA is taking these days to then approve licenses…
