December 13, 2024 Restaurant/Bar News
Two longtime Seaport residents, Alex Davis and Learan Kahanov, just opened Peck Slip Social — at Peck Slip and Front — a whiskey-forward bar with more than 100 bottles on hand along with craft cocktails and a menu of Mediterranean and Asian-inspired small plates and live music. I plan to get over there soon to check it out, but wanted this up in the meantime.
Kahanov is a cinematographer who has worked on feature films with directors like Kevin Smith and a bunch of TV shows and is a founder of Taste of the Seaport. Davis still lives in the apartment she grew up in just a few blocks away from the bar. And she’s a principal at LĂ©man’s middle school.
The cocktails are named for friends and family members, based on their favorite drinks (tho Fred is their dog); the spirits are listed on the menu geographically. Chef Taylor Miller comes from the Tin Building and Ichiran and the menu is a collaboration with the owners — the hummus is Kahanov’s family recipe. There’s a menu sample below including lamb lumpia with wasabi-honey mustard, mushroom shawarma, Korean fried schnitzel.
The 24-foot bar is the longest in the neighborhood and the space is divided into two sides — one room has a small stage and communal seating while the other has a pool table, sofa seating and board games.
For now the hours are from 3p Monday to Friday and from noon Saturday and Sunday. A brunch menu debuts soon. More TK when I get over there.
