There is an OMNY machine by the NW entrance (not sure when that was put there). Looks like something else is happening on the SE wall.
So as we all know, the MetroCards are being phased out; one deadline I’ve seen mentioned is the 2025-2026 school year, though the MTA press rep said there is no set date. In the meantime, every station is getting an OMNY card machine, and will keep one MetroCard machine, he said. Any stations that currently do not have an OMNY machine will get one this year. All three Chambers Street stations have OMNY machines, along with Park Place, Fulton and a few more in Fidi.
Students now get OMNY cards, and the MTA just started mailing cards to riders who qualify for reduced fares.
The MetroCard was introduced to replace tokens exactly 30 years ago, on January 6, 1994, at the South Ferry station.
