MAKING SOUND AT A LISTENING BAR
The blog MusicTech interviews the owner of All Blues in a roundup of listening bars in the city. “Vintage sounds different. The old vintage compared to the latest, current model of the best equipment sounds much warmer, much richer,” Yuji Fukushima told them, when reflecting on why he opted for older equipment. “Newer stuff is more complicated. Sound systems should be as simple as possible.” If you are into the tech behind the sound, it’s worth a read.

NO TO A DIGITAL SCREEN ON N. MOORE
The Trib covered a meeting at CB1 that reviewed the 32-foot-tall 5G cell tower for N. Moore, where the committee rejected the proposed LED advertising display.

BOWERY SAVINGS BANK UP FOR AUCTION
This is out of the neighborhood, but since we have all walked past it a dozen times: Crain’s reports that The former headquarters of Bowery Savings Bank, the Stanford White-designed landmark building on the corner of Bowery and Grand, is “poised to hit the auction block after being ensnared for years in a bankruptcy case. The 32,700 square-foot building — boasting 65-foot vaulted ceilings and large Corinthian columns — was taken over by lenders last year after an earlier $26 million sale of the property fell through.”

GALLERIES RECOVERING FROM FIRES
Artnet covered the damage done to the two galleries on the ground floor of 45 White, which was ravaged by a fire last week. From artnet: “There is significant damage in the gallery space and the building,” Michael Nevin, the owner of The Journal Gallery said, as he watched firefighters clear rubble this afternoon. “We won’t be able to open for some time.” They said Nevin also has a gallery in Los Angeles, and while it was not directly hit by the wildfires there, his opening has been delayed nonetheless, since the whole region is still suffering.
