OLIVE’S IN HOLDING PATTERN
I checked in with Nick Hartman, who with his wife owns Olive’s, the Soho stalwart and the one coming to Greenwich and Hubert, to get a progress report: not what I (or he) wanted to hear. He’s hoping for late March, but has struggled with Landmarks. So much for the City of Yes. I thought that was exactly what it was designed for?
CHURCH STREET’S GALA SET FOR MARCH 10
Church Street School for Music & Art will host its annual gala The Event on Monday, March 10, at the Roxy Hotel. the night will feature live music with performances by the Church Street School Band Factory and Tribeca Jazz Institute, student ensembles and faculty members. This year’s gala will honor Tribeca residents and longtime parents and supporters Rob and Danielle Elder and CSSMA faculty member, Band Factory administrator and celebrated musician Phil Stewart. 9/11 EXHIBIT OF CHILDREN’S ART
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum will host a new exhibition titled “Drawing Meaning: Trauma and Children’s Art after 9/11” in the South Tower Gallery of the museum starting Feb. 19. The show will feature over 70 pieces and will take visitors through different stages of the tragedy including children’s experience witnessing the attacks, the aftermath of the attacks and learning and healing from the experience. While organizing this exhibition, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum sought guidance from outside experts, including child psychologists, to gauge sensitivities around inclusion of pictorial content that might disturb or confuse young visitors to the exhibition gallery.
SUBMIT A WALK FOR JANE’S WALK
The Municipal Art Society is now accepting proposals for the Jane’s Walk NYC 2025 festival to be held from May 2-4. Anyone can submit and lead a walking tour in any New York City neighborhood across all five boroughs; submissions are open until March 31. Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival celebrating urban life and culture. MAS staff organize a fleet of volunteer walk leaders to create 200+ in-person, virtual, and on-demand walks with over 5,000 participants. More info here.
