EL TACO COMING TO CHURCH??
Neighbors say that a Mexican caterer called El Taco has taken the Twiggy space at 279 Church, just south of White. Twiggy To Go opened in 2021 and closed just over a year later, but since that was the operation of noted NYC caterer Mitchel London, I am hoping they left a good kitchen behind on the lower level…
METAL ALCHEMIST IS CLOSED ON READE
The Metal Alchemist, which opened in 2022 and was founded by Tribecan Carolyn Rafaelian, who created the wildly successful jewelry line Alex + Ani, is no longer open on Reade and Greenwich. The staff did not offer plans for the future. “Right now, we are online at metalalchemist.com & in select retailers in other states.”
UNTITLED SPACE CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
The Untitled Space, the gallery at 45 Lispenard, will celebrate a decade with a show called “UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance” through March 29. Since its inception, the gallery has featured more than 50 exhibitions and presented the work of more than 500 artists whose work confronts the challenges of today’s social and political landscape and envisions a future rooted in justice, equality, and freedom.
(SORT OF) ACCESS TO MOVIES AT FOUQUET’S
I got excited when I saw the movie theater at Fouquet’s might be open to the public, but there’s a (big) catch: Public access to the theater is on an events basis only — meaning you can buy a “dinner and a movie” package for specific nights and showings. There’s a two drinks and a light bite at Titsou Bar for $110 per person or a three-course pre-fixe menu at Brasserie Fouquet’s for $165pp. Too bad, because it’s a cool spot.
