In the News: A stickup at TD Bank

A STICKUP AT TD BANK ON CHAMBERS
The Post reports that a man held up a teller at TD Bank on the corner of Greenwich and Chambers on Monday, and made off with $1000. I am awaiting the NYPD report, but from what the Post says, he was unarmed and fled on foot.

THE HAPPY ARRIVAL OF PHYTOPLANKTON
The Times talks to Hudson River Park Trust educators about the green hue of the water and how it’s a good sign for the river. From The Times: “Phytoplankton in the Hudson do not face the world with the bright colors of springtime tulips. They give the river a greenish color that can be a turnoff for people who think that it means the water is unclean, said HRPT an assistant vice president Tina Walsh. But the presence of the phytoplankton is “actually an indicator that we have a quite healthy estuary.”

ROARING TWENTIES NEW YORK
National Geographic has a feature on “How to spend the perfect day in Roaring Twenties Manhattan” and it starts with the Square Diner: “Time travel back to 1922 with a hearty breakfast at the Square Diner, an original train-car-style cafe that’s been serving the Tribeca community for over a century.”

AN INSTAGRAM RANT ON THE JAIL
I can’t seem to embed IG posts anymore, but follow this Instagram link for a good rant from Nile Berry, a journalist who does “deep dives on cities, tech, and government (for people in a hurry).” He lashes out at the now-$3.8 billion price tag on the planned White Street jail.

  1. How the hell does an unarmed suspect rob a
TD Bank? It doesn’t make any sense. If I’m
working as a bank teller and you want to rob
me I’ll say you’re going to need to show me
a loaded gun or you get nothing.
