CLOCKTOWER IS FOR SALE
Worth noting that the penthouse of the Clocktower Building on Broadway and Leonard is for sale for the first time. I asked for a tour and they declined, so get a look here at Realtor.com. The apartment — an 8700-square-foot triplex with 3,082 square feet of outdoor space — has access to the clock itself through a spiral stair. It’s listed for $19 million. (You can’t see the clocktower from the street, so enjoy this video from the Tribeca Trib on the winding of the clock.)
TIN BUILDING IS SCALING BACK
Crain’s reports that Seaport Entertainment Group, which owns part of the Tin Building, reported a $33 million loss for its share of the business last year. From Crain’s: “[The company] aims to scale back the sprawling venture to reduce ‘cash burn,’ company executives said on a recent earnings call. Plans include closing one of two commissary kitchens and scrapping underperforming concepts to focus on the successful ones.”
TOWNHOUSE FOR SALE ON JAY
The Robb Report picked up on Tribecan Danny Davis’ listing for 19 Jay, just east of the former Sarabeth’s, which is a now a six-story home originally built in 1888. The 9600-square-foot house, listed for $27 million, has five bedrooms and five baths, plus a ground-floor powder room and a large mud room with a shower space, plus an indoor basketball court, yoga studio and expansive rooftop terrace with a bar and grill. I might have to get a tour of this one…
HUNTER MFA SHOW ON HUDSON
We all missed this show that Hyperallergic featured, but I am putting this here as a prompt because I have never covered or even really acknowledged the Hunter College MFA program in studio art that is at 205 Hudson — with an entrance on Canal and Watts. The gallery is called 205 Hudson Gallery and the program itself has 80,000 square feet with individual studio space for each student, several technical workshops, critique spaces, classrooms and a large public assembly space.
