Brooks Brothers opens new flagship store in Fidi

Brooks Brothers has opened a new flagship in the Financial District, this time at 195 Broadway at Fulton, not far from where the brand was founded more than 200 years ago (at Catherine and Cherry streets in 1818) and around the corner from its original Fidi store at Liberty and Trinity. (Ego Nwodim from SNL was there for the opening, which to me is the best part.)

The new store is 10,000 square feet over two floors in the former AT&T headquarters, adjacent to Nobu and across from the Fulton Center. The store will have men’s and women’s, as well as made-to-measure tailoring, vintage items, and some exclusive collections only sold at this location. There will also be a rotating exhibit of historic items from the brand’s archives, such as an exact replica of Abraham Lincoln’s Great Coat, created by Brooks Brothers for Lincoln’s second inauguration, and some of Henry Sands Brooks personal items.

Brooks Brothers still has its Rockefeller Center and Madison Avenue stores in the city, along with 334 freestanding stores worldwide.

The store’s original Financial District location at Liberty and Trinity was damaged after 9/11 and reopened in September 2002. But that store closed in 2018, when the landlord decided to renovate the building.
