Seen & Heard: 32 Avenue of the Americas lives on

AT&T BUILDING ON WALKER GETS EXTENSION
Rudin, the real estate organization that owns 32 Avenue of the Americas — the huge landmark deco AT&T building that stretches from Walker to Lispenard to Church — received an extension on its loan, which means the building lives on despite commercial real estate woes around the city. This is a good thing! They are investing $100 million in the building now, and have a plan to liven up the streetscape, though that is on hold for now. The building is 27 stories, 1.2 million square feet and was designed by Ralph Walker in 1932. It has two terraces on the 25th floor. The Rudins acquired it from AT&T in 1999. (Mostly I wanted to run this shot…)

COAT DRIVE LOCATIONS IN TRIBECA
Both Modern Martial Arts on Reade and Church and FDNY Ladder 1 Engine 7 on Duane and Broadway/Church are accepting coats for the NY Cares Coat Drive. Click on the map here for hours and details.

TASTE OF TRIBECA GIVES BACK
The organizers of Taste of Tribeca will host Taste for a Cause, a tradition that brings together families, local restaurants and neighborhood parks, on November 15 from noon to 2p. Before the pandemic, the two schools that organize Taste gathered for a morning of giving back by cleaning up local parks. This year, they are bringing it back. Parents and kids from the schools will clean up Duane Park and Washington Market Park, and will then head to Duane Park Patisserie and Laughing Man Cafe for a cup of hot chocolate.

FREE HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES AT THE SEAPORT
South Street Seaport Museum will host free holiday activities on Saturdays and Sundays, December 6 to 28, 11am–4:30pm. Activities and their locations change each month to highlight various aspects of maritime history, New York City’s beginnings as a port city, or the museum’s collections and offerings. Book free tickets here.
