Reade Street Prep will move to Broadway in 2027

Reade Street Prep, the preschool that has been on, yes, Reade (in several locations) since 2010, will expand in the next year, opening in a new and bigger space — 12,000 square feet at 351 Broadway between Leonard and Franklin — in early 2027.

The new school will be built in two phases, with 10 classrooms and an “exceptional” indoor play area opening in January 2027 and an additional three or four classrooms coming online in the 2027-2028 school year. That doubles their current space at 77 Reade. It’s an amazing space, with 75 feet of windows along the facade for all that natural light — they are the first tenant in the building, which was finished in 2018. (Kids will love this place!)

With the expansion, the school will be able to offer two additional program options: a Young Twos Program (like Preschool Prep, but way more robust) for children who turn two between September 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026; and an Explorers Program For children ages 2 to 3 and a half by September 2026.

Founded by Tribecan Ilysa Winick in 2010 as FasTracKids/Enopi at 104 Reade, the school rebranded as Reade Street Prep and, in 2013, opened a 6000-square-foot main campus at 77 Reade, its current home. (In 2018 they had plans to open at 101 Reade, which was the Gotham Bikes space. But they did maintain the original location at 104 Reade until the pandemic.)

Back in 2010, Winick had one child and was looking to leave her Wall Street job for something with better work-life balance. She stumbled upon FasTracKids, a franchised business that originated in Denver, via a friend who taught at Fieldston, and melded it with Enopi, a South Korean program that teaches critical thinking through games, puzzles and mazes. She then limited the class size (between 10 and 12 with two teachers) to create Reade Street Prep.

More to come when they have plans and renderings ready.
