This comes up for me at holiday parties and yoga classes and of course in email — where this week I got a question from A. and an answer from M.: “What’s happening at the retail level of 111 Hudson Street, now many years in construction?”
This of course is the former Jin Market, between Franklin and N. Moore, which closed in 2022. The commercial condo sold for $8 million in spring 2023 to the owner of H Mart, and since then, there’s been work going on in that space sporadically — over nearly three years.
And now M. found some more recent work permits, filed in November for the first floor and basement. Not much of an update since the last time we checked in October, but it’s something! And M. noted that the current permits issued by the Department of Buildings have the same address as H Mart corporate.
I have never been able to confirm directly with the company. It started with a solid tip I got back in 2023 and then James Bogardus then did a deep dive on the Department of Finance records on the sale and learned the deed included the same address and suite number as “Hana Mart Tribeca Corp” as well as the same last name of the owner of H Mart.
