BROOKFIELD COYOTE RELEASED TO STATE LAND
The coyote who trapped himself in the Brookfield Place skating rink rental shop this past weekend was tranquilized and captured by Animal Control Center of New York City at the scene. The agency then contacted New York State Department of Conservation’s Law Enforcement unit, which transported the coyote to state land for release. The coyote appeared healthy, the DEC said.
LUNAR NEW YEAR AT GOTHAM PARK
Gotham Park, the new open space under the Brooklyn Bridge, will host a Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 28, from 1 to 2:30p. The celebration will feature a traditional lion dance performance and a special appearance by the God of Fortune at the Brooklyn Banks, where blessings of prosperity and good luck will be bestowed for the year ahead. DEADLINE FOR PRE-K AND 3K IS FEB. 27
Families with children turning 3 or 4 in 2026 can apply for the city’s pre-K and 3K programs. Every family that applies by the deadline will receive an offer. Applications are not first-come, first-served.
ANOTHER CASUALTY AT BROOKFIELD
N. and A. sent word that the Bottega Veneta store at Brookfield Place has closed permanently. This follows Ferragamo, though the athletic gear shop Alo has already taken that space.
Another bit of neighborhood-ish news: Amex has finally agreed to be the owner and tenant of 2WTC and construction should apparently start this Spring.
